Why eco-friendly period packaging is the need of the hour
Here’s a mind-boggling fact for our Be Me Women - all menstrual products are labeled as “medical trash” and cannot be tracked once discarded! This is why researchers cannot quantify how much waste they truly create.
On top of that, a single disposable pad can take up to 800 years to break down, according to a 2019 study.
Whereas, organic pads made of organic cotton (much like ours) take 18 months to fully break down in the right compost environment.
Our sanitary pads are packaged in discreet and recyclable pouches that conceal odour and reduce the mess that would be inevitable while disposing of your pad in a newspaper.
Once trashed for good, pads and their packaging end up in landfills. From there on, they convert into microplastics that pollute our oceans, and rivers and end up in our water supply!
This fact alone makes it more important than ever to switch to sustainably-wrapped sanitary products.
If you look closely at the Be Me pouch, you will notice that it instructs you to not flush it.
That’s because flushing your pads or any other feminine hygiene products down the toilet, for that matter, is a costly mistake that can disrupt your plumbing system.
To clarify, we’re not stating that our sustainable period packaging will save the world. However, it will surely contribute to a relatively eco-friendlier flow.
Through our recyclable pouches and organic cotton pads, we’d like to pay our respects to Mother Nature and reduce the carbon footprint of every Be Me Woman!
